Comprehensive manuscript critique

I decided to try the manuscript critique service for my historical fiction novel. The process was simple; I uploaded my document, and it took about 4 days to get the full report back. The feedback covered narrative structure, character arc consistency, and even pointed out some areas where my descriptive language could be stronger. It wasn't just generic advice; it had specific examples from my text. I appreciated the detailed breakdown of strengths and weaknesses. The only minor hiccup was that one of the suggestions felt a little too prescriptive for my style, but that's typical with AI tools, you pick what works. It's a very robust tool for getting a broad overview before sending it to a human editor. It really helped me prioritize my revisions.

Solid tool, consistent results

I've been using GhostTheWriter for a few months now, mostly the prose polishing tool and sometimes the character development AI. This time, I ran a chapter through Word Wraith, and it was just as helpful as before. The suggestions are always relevant, and it definitely streamlines my editing time. It's reliable, which is why I keep coming back instead of trying other platforms. The quality of feedback has been consistent across all my uses.

Good for quick edits

I tried out the Phantom Fix feature after seeing an ad. It cleaned up some awkward sentences in my short story pretty fast. The interface was straightforward, and it did what I needed it to do without any fuss. Overall, a smooth experience.

Useful, but could be faster

I used the Rate My Prose feature for a novel excerpt. It gave some solid feedback on pacing and voice, which was helpful. The analysis took a bit longer than I expected, maybe around 15 minutes for a few thousand words, which felt a little slow compared to other tools I've used for quick checks. However, the quality of the insights made it worth the wait. The interface was clean and easy to navigate, and the suggestions were clear. Overall, it's a good tool, just factor in some processing time.

Anyone know if they're legit? A PhD in Lit developing an AI sounds almost too good to be true.

A Andre 1 month ago
It's legit. The PhD part is what sets it apart, focusing on literary nuances instead of just grammar checks.

D Daisy 1 month ago
Yeah, it's real. I was skeptical too, but the tools are actually pretty good and much better for creative stuff than something like Grammarly. The literature background definitely shows in how it analyzes things.

How do you even put in a promo code if you have one? Can't seem to find the spot during signup.

C Carly W. 4 weeks ago
You usually enter it at checkout. I think it's where you put your credit card info, with Stripe.

R Renee C. 3 weeks ago
If it's a referral link, it usually applies automatically. For a direct promo code, look for a box on the payment page, it's typically handled through Stripe or their billing portal.

Is my writing safe on GhostTheWriter? Like, are they going to use my novel to train their AI or something?

S Sophie 1 month ago
No, they specifically say they don't use your manuscript data to train their AI. That's a big privacy thing for them.

P Priya M. 4 weeks ago
I checked their privacy stuff before signing up. They state pretty clearly your data isn't used for training. That's why I felt comfortable uploading my WIP.

Can you actually cancel your subscription easily? Or is it a whole hassle like some other services?

J Jared S. 3 weeks ago
Super easy. Just go to your account settings and there's usually a cancel button. No hoops to jump through.

F Faith T. 3 weeks ago
Yeah, I cancelled for a few months when I wasn't actively writing and then re-subscribed. It was pretty straightforward in the account portal, no annoying calls or anything.

Does GhostTheWriter have any kind of student discount? I'm trying to budget for my MFA program.

B Ben 4 weeks ago
They do! I remember seeing something about an educator and student discount. Worth checking their site or an email to support.

T Tara 4 weeks ago
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they offer one. My friend in an English program got a deal, so it's definitely a thing. Probably on their FAQ page or a quick search.

What's the deal with Phantom Fix vs. Word Wraith? I'm a bit confused on which one I need for editing.

T Todd L. 1 month ago
Phantom Fix is more for deep structural stuff, like developmental editing. Word Wraith is for polishing sentences, flow, grammar, that kind of thing.

C Carly 1 month ago
Think of Phantom Fix as the big picture stuff – plot, character arcs, pacing. Word Wraith is more about the actual words, making your prose shine. If your manuscript needs a full overhaul, go Phantom Fix. If it's mostly there but needs a polish, Word Wraith.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how long the free trial for GhostTheWriter usually lasts? Thinking about trying out Rate My Prose.

O Omar Romero 1 month ago
Yeah, it's usually 7 days. Pretty good amount of time to get a feel for it.

They offer a 7-day free trial. I used it for Phantom Fix last month, it was enough time to see if it clicked with my workflow.

Has anyone used both GhostTheWriter and Sudowrite? Trying to figure out which one is better for actual novel drafting.

D Derek C. 3 weeks ago
I've messed with both. Sudowrite is more for generating new stuff, I think GhostTheWriter is better if you already have drafts and need help polishing them up.
1
R Rosa 3 weeks ago
Totally different vibes. Sudowrite kinda writes *for* you sometimes. GhostTheWriter feels more like an assistant for what you've already got, especially the prose and structure stuff. Depends what you need help with.
